The 22-year-old had a short-lived spell in Serie A, signing for Walter Mazzarri’s outfit from Espanyol in January, and made only a handful of first team appearances in Naples.
The former Spain Under-21 defender has stated that he is glad to have joined the Mestalla club, and is looking forward to competing in La Liga once more.
“I really wanted to come as soon as I learned of Valencia’s interest,” the former Barcelona youth player told SuperDeporte.
Unai Emery’s side will look to build on their third-placed finish from 2010-11, and the club’s technical secretary Braulio Vazquez has talked up the team’s latest addition.
“He is European class,” said Vazquez.
“He has a great technique, tactical positioning and strength. He will help to complement our defence with his characteristics, which are different from those of other players we have.
“He is a player with a big future, we are proud to have him and that we have been able to close a contract that has proved difficult, as Napoli liked him a lot,” he concluded.
Ruiz will be unveiled at the Mestalla on Thursday, and has signed a four-year deal at his new club.
