Samuel Eto’o is expected to have his medical with Anzhi Machachkala on Wednesday as Inter chiefs meet to discuss life after his departure. The striker is on the verge of finalising his £26 million (€30m) move to the Russian club following developments in talks.

Il Corriere dello Sport
reports Inter will make the transfer official imminently, possibly as soon as Tuesday evening, meaning Eto’o will travel to Rome on Wednesday for his medical at the Villa Stuart clinic.

Once he passes his tests, the striker will head to Russia where he will become Anzhi’s highest-paid player on a contract believed to be worth a stunning £17.5m (€20m) per annum.

And, while the final details are ironed out, Inter are back at work to sign a replacement.

Transfer chief Marco Branca has met with coach Gian Piero Gasperini to talk business, with Atletico Madrid’s Diego Forlan and Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez both reported targets.
