Barcelona have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Anderlecht’s Forward Matias Suarez.
The Metro.co.uk have reported that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has sent chief scout Steve Rowley to watch Matias Suarez on three occasions this season and that Arsenal held talks with the players agent in January over a possible move to England.
The 23-year-old has confirmed these reports and also said he’s flattered to be linked with a great club like Arsenal. Suarez was quoted as saying – ‘I do not deny that my agent may have had contact with Arsenal. I’m flattered to be linked with this great club.
Sounds good for Arsenal fans doesn’t it ? Well not exactly as the report then claims that Spanish giants Barcelona had scouts there aswell watching the Argentine hitman during Anderlecht’s win against KVC Westerlo on Sunday were they won 3-1.
Matias Suarez is in great form for Anderlecht, in the last 3 and-a-half years he has scored 42 goals and made 34 assists for his team mates , but to ne honest he is playing in a not so great Belgian league and it’s far from certain what he would do in a major league like La Liga or the Premier League.
Suarez is currently rated at £10 million so it would be seen as a gamble if Arsenal were to sign the striker, thats if they can beat Barcelona to his signature of course.
Both the Champions League and the relegation battles could be decided before the final week kicks off, but Spurs and Wigan look to keep hope alive for one more week.
