Everton’s Jack Rodwell & Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge named in English squad to face Spain

Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has earned a call-up to the England squad for the November friendlies against Spain and Sweden.Sturridge has impressed for the Under-21 squad and joins Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck and Fulham’s Bobby Zamora, as Wayne Rooney is left out following his suspension for the opening three games of Euro 2012.

Meanwhile, there is no place for the experience of Rio Ferdinand, or Manchester City right-back Micah Richards.

Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson has been included after his recent return from injury, while the squad takes an otherwise familiar shape for the upcoming Wembley clashes.

John Terry is also named in the squad, after Capello said the Chelsea defender would be considered “innocent until proven guilty” on Saturday over the ongoing FA investigation into his alleged racial abuse of QPR’s Anton Ferdinand.
