Liverpool are very interested in signing highly-rated Mexican Hector Herrera this summer, the 21 year-old has been tipped to be a real force in Premier League.
The young Mexican currently plays for Mexican side Pachuca, and has played a big role in the national sides qualifying campaign for this summer’s Olympic Games in London.
It has been reported that Liverpool have already made contact with Pachuca regarding a potential deal for the winger, although have yet to formalise their interest, according to the club’s executive director Andres Fassi.
Fassi told ESPN -”At the moment, we know that Liverpool is interested. But that’s all it is at this point, an interest,”
Pachuca’s director also believes that Herrera has the ability to be a great success in the Premier League, should he make the move to Liverpool.
He added – “If (Herrera leaves), it will be thanks to a sale. We will not loan him out or send him for a trial.
“(Herrera) can surely be one of the Premier League’s best players in two or three seasons. He’s that good.”
Damien Comolli had been tasked by Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) with recruiting the cream of young talent from across the globe, and his sacking on Thursday may have some impact on any potential deal for Herrera.
Dutch icon Johan Cruyff has reportedly been identified by Liverpool as an ideal replacement for Comolli as director of football at Anfield.
