The Sun have reported that Royston Drenthe could be set for a controversial move to Liverpool this summer.
The Real Madrid player wants to leave Madrid on a permanent basis to get more playing time. He is currently on loan at Liverpool’s big rivals Everton but is prepared to cross the Merseyside divide.
Liverppol are reportedly willing to match his wages which are rumoured to be around £80,000-a-week to get the winger on a permanent deal.
Kenny Dalglish sees Dutch international Drenthe as a key player to start his rebuilding this summer. The 25-year-old has showed his ability in patches since joining Everton last August, if he were to get a starting place in a quality team then he could well show his class week in week out.
He has made 21 appearances for Everton so far this season scoring four goals and has made seven assists, however he was dropped as Everton lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday amid rumours of a breach of discipline.
