Liverpool are reportedly chasing Barcelona’s young winger Cristian Tello, according to The Daily Mail.
The Spanish Under-20 international has made the breakthrough at Barcelona this season, but it now appears Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is interested in bringing him to Anfield.
Liverpool have adopted a policy of signing promising young players since John W Henry’s takeover of the club and Tello would seem to fit the bill.
Tello was promoted to the first team squad this year and has impressed all with his lighting speed and shooting catching the eye when he has appeared for Barca.
Guardiola has given Tello the chance to stake a place in the team because of injuries to Villa and also Pedro over the last couple of months and Tello has not disappointed showing he is more than capable of playing for Barcelona when needed.
Tello made his first team debut three weeks ago against Real Sociedad and he scored his first league goal within ten minutes to give Barcelona the lead in the game.
His contract is set to expire at the end of next season and Barca will be keen for him to sign an extension, as clubs like Liverpool will be ready to lure Tello with contract offers.
If he refuses to sign a new deal, the Spainish champions may be forced to sell for a reduced price rather than lose him for free in the summer of 2013.
