Sir Alex’s Manchester United have reached a gentlemen’s agreement to sign Benfica’s highly rated winger Nicolas Gaitan this summer.
The 23-year-old Argentine is widely tipped as one of the up and coming young players in European football, United have been repeatedly linked with a move for Gaitan over the last 6 months +.
Bitter Premier League rivals Man City were also believed to be very interested in Gaitan, but recent reports have suggested Sir Alex Ferguson has moved ahead and agreed a deal in principal with Benfica.
Reports emerging from the Portuguese media have now claimed that Man United have agreed a deal with Benfica for Nicolas Gaitan and he will move to Old Trafford in the summer.
Ferguson is believed to be keen to bolster his midfield, having recently re-signed veteran Paul Scholes on a short-term deal, although Gaitan’s reported £30 million pound price tag may prove a stumbling block to any potential Old Trafford switch.
