Barcelona shot stopper Victor Valdes has came out and backed team mate Gerard Pique after he was left out of the squad in the Champions League tie against Bayer Leverkusen were they won 3-1.
The Spanish international has recently been struggling for form in the last couple of months, but Victor Valdes is full of praise for Pique and insisted that he is the best Centre back in the world.
Valdes told the press – “There’s no need to go on about his omission against Leverkusen. He’s the best centre back in the world and he’s always shown that.
“It was just the coach’s decision the other day. I haven’t noticed any change in him. He’s working harder than ever and he is enthusiastic about things.”
Gerard Pique is expected to return to the squad for this weekend’s La Liga match at the Nou Camp to in form Valencia.
