What Can We Expect From CSK In IPL 2020

Indian Premier League is the biggest spectacle of the cricketing world. This yearly T20 tournament is the premier T20 tournament in the world, and during the 2 months while it takes place every cricket fan has his eyes set on their screens.

The 13th edition of the IPL is all set to start from the 29th of March 2020 and will end on the 24th of May 2020. When it comes to the IPL, no team has enjoyed a higher percentage of success than the Chennai Super Kings, CSK is one of the most successful IPL teams ever and has won the tournament 3 times.

This year the IPL 2020 Schedule shows that Chennai is all set to start the journey on the 1st day itself, The Chennai Super Kings will face their biggest rivals on day 1 of the tournament itself, CSK is set to face the Mumbai Indians on the opening day of the tournament. The Mumbai Indians are one team that has always done well against the Chennai Super Kings, and even beat them in the final last year.

Chennai Super Kings have always had a great squad, but their squad is aging, Led by the one and only MS Dhoni, most of the core of the Chennai team are past their prime but that is what makes them so dangerous, Raina, Dhoni, Harbhajan, Watson, Bravo all make up the core of the CSK team and are probably nearing the end of their respective careers and just have the urge to lift the IPL trophy for one final time before they retire.

CSK has a good squad with Rayudu, Vijay, Watson, Raina and du Plessis making the batting look great and with Bravo, Harbhajan, Thakur and Ngidi in the bowling department CSK looks like a well-oiled machine.

The biggest advantage that CSK holds over their rivals is the presence of genuine all-rounders, Watson, Bravo, Jadhav, Jadeja, Curran all are world-class all-rounders and will definitely help in maintaining the balance of the team. Especially someone like Curran who has been performing pretty well over the last year, all of this will help CSK this year.

Whenever CSK plays an IPL match, they enter as favorites and every IPL they are a part of they tend to do well and have at least made it to the knockout stages in every edition of the IPL.

And this year CSK’s journey could be driven by emotion and this year’s IPL could possibly be Captain cools last. Dhoni has not been a part of the Indian team for quite some time now, and it seems that his playing days are about to end. This would mean that this year’s IPL would be the final time we get to see Dhoni in action. The 2019 IPL Points Table showed us how well CSK performs in the group stages, they finished the group stages at 2nd position with 18 points.

Whatever the case may be CSK have always been one of the most consistent teams in the IPL and it would come as no surprise if they reach the knockout stage this time around as well, CSK don’t enter the tournament as favorites this time around, but they certainly won’t be a team that should be taken lightly.
