ICC T20 2021 World Cup – UAE / Oman

ICC T20 2021 World Cup – UAE / Oman

The much-anticipated World Cup held at the ICC T20 will be held in the UAE and Oman from October 17, 2021. The COVID-19 epidemic has pushed the tournament twice since last year (2020). Initially, it was supposed to be played back in Australia before moving to India but the ICC has confirmed final locations in the UAE and Oman this year.

Prior to the epidemic, Australia had been scheduled to host the ICC T20 World-Cup 2021 but in agreement, Australia and India had changed their hosting rights. Australia will therefore host the WT20 in 2022, while India will host this year (in the UAE). India last hosted the T20 World Cup in 2016. It will be the first time India has hosted the World Cup after the ICC T20.

The T20 World Cup has been a celebration for cricket fans around the world. The T20 is an unexpected format that allows even subordinates to win matches and titles.

The T20 World Cup will benefit all teams financially as teams will be able to compensate for losses during the epidemic. Three ICC events in a row for three years in a row so the players have to prepare for the upcoming cricket calendar.

T20 World Cup 2021 venues

On April 17, 2021, the BCCI proposed the names of the cities scheduled to host the games. Bangalore, Chennai, Dharamshala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and New Delhi were the venues as well as Ahmedabad, which hosted the finals of the event. On April 18, 2021, it was announced that Pakistan would play two matches for its teams in Delhi, with Mumbai and Kolkata holding the semi-finals. On June 28, 2021, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed that the board had officially negotiated with the ICC their decision to move the event from India to the UAE. Some of the first round matches of the event will also be held in Oman. On June 29, 2021, the ICC confirmed that the T20 World Cup would be played in the UAE and Oman. The tournament will be held at four venues: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium, and Oman Cricket Academy Ground.

The 4 WT20 playgrounds / catches are as follows:

  • Dubai International Cricket Ground (Dubai)
  • Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah)
  • Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi)
  • Oman Cricket Academy Ground (Muscat / Oman)
  • Teams Participating in T20 World Event

A total of 16 teams will compete in this year’s World T20 program. The 10 permanent teams with a T20I status are the ICC as these teams have played the previous WT20 program.

There are six new teams that have already reached WT20 by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 qualifying round held in the UAE.

Preparation of teams ahead of the 2021 World Cup event

With less than 7 months left in the WT20, teams will start preparing for their team reunions, maybe 11, etc. Game strategies and plans are developed by different teams. Before the start of the World Cup event, there is still a series of two countries where all teams will try their new players before finishing their WT20 team.

England and India are the favorites to win the tournament. Let’s get ready for these top teams.

India

India as its host is one of the strongest teams in the upcoming WT20. India has three players who have won games in the team – Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. These three players are the pillars of the team where all the other players are around.

With the return of Rishab Pant to the team in the upcoming T20I against England, the team has three influential players (the other two being Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja) on their given day who could change the game.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are two of the most consistent and loyal players whose experience will help in relegation.

In line with these partners, the Indian group is looking to invest in young people – Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Rahul Tewatia. The players were rewarded with a national call-up to five T20I matches against England after playing regularly in domestic and IPL cricket.

India has 15 games (approx) before the start of the WT20. India will therefore have enough practice for the game to settle for their 15 team members.

India May 20 WT20: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Rishab Pant, Sanju Samson, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bum, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, YuzI Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, T Natarajan

England

England’s T20 team is currently the strongest team in world cricket although it may not be selected at the top of the ICC T20. For the 2019 World Cup, England had begun its preparations in 2015 itself. They have completely changed the style of ODI cricket by hitting 350+ runs regularly in most ODI games.

In the T20 again, England is well prepared as it has its many bases integrated into the T20 line. The debt goes to Eoin Morgan for building a strong unit and giving new players opportunities before the start of the World Cup. England’s defeat is so far away that captain Eoin Morgan pushes himself down.

David Malan, currently not on the side of the T20 strikers, is in good health. He has been a key player in England’s success in the T20I recently. England have game winners like Butler, Stokes, Roy, and Bairstow who can change the intensity of the game on their given day.

Their bowling also looks decent with Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Adil Rashid. While not many big bowling alley names, the T20 is a format that doesn’t go to the big bowlers called.

England have 13 games before the start of the WT20. England will look to try 2 or 3 places. No major changes will see the team as it will see.
