What’s Happening in Euro 2024?

Euro

What’s happening in Euro 2024? It’s the 17th UEFA European Championship that will be held in Germany this year. The championship started on June 14, 2024, and will run until July 14, 2024. We will no longer see Italy and Belgium, but we have other teams that you should look forward to.

As you know, Germany will be hosting this year, and the team is coming back to the field ready to seek redemption and prove a point. Their game in the 2022 World Cup was somewhat disappointing, but this year their players have woken up and are ready to go against Switzerland in the quarterfinals.

Here are the team members that will be participating this year. We have Oliver Baumann (TSG Hoffenheim), Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), and Marc-André ter Stegen (Barcelona) as their goalkeepers.

For their defenders, we have Waldemar Anton (VfB Stuttgart), Benjamin Henrichs (RB Leipzig), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), Robin Koch (Eintracht Frankfurt), Maximilian Mittelstädt (VfB Stuttgart), David Raum (RB Leipzig), Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid), Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund), and Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen).

Their midfielders are Robert Andrich (Bayer Leverkusen), Emre Can (Borussia Dortmund), Chris Führich (VfB Stuttgart), Pascal Groß (Brighton & Hove Albion), Ilkay Gündogan (Barcelona), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Leroy Sané (Bayern Munich), and Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen).

Then, we have Maximilian Beier (TSG Hoffenheim), Niclas Füllkrug (Borussia Dortmund), Kai Havertz (Arsenal), Thomas Müller (Bayern Munich), and Deniz Undav (VfB Stuttgart) as their forwards.

Spain vs Georgia

On July 1, 2024, the match between Spain and Georgia commenced, and they won against Georgia, which means they will be moving into the quarterfinals. This is very exciting for their team and their home country.

Their final team members for this year are Alex Remiro (Real Sociedad), David Raya (Arsenal), and Unai Simon (Athletic Bilbao) as their goalkeepers.

Their defenders are Alex Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen), Aymeric Laporte (Al Nassr), Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Daniel Vivian (Athletic Bilbao), Jesus Navas (Sevilla), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), Nacho (Real Madrid), and Robin Le Normand (Real Sociedad).

We have Alex Baena (Villarreal), Fabian Ruiz (France, Paris Saint-Germain), Fermin Lopez (Barcelona), Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad), Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad), Pedri (Barcelona), and Rodri (Manchester City) as their midfielders.

Then, we have Alvaro Morata (Atletico Madrid), Ayoze Perez (Real Betis), Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig), Ferran Torres (Barcelona), Joselu (Real Madrid), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), and Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao) as their forwards.

England is determined to win

The team of England, under Gareth Southgate, will also be participating in the Euro 2024 after going against Slovakia with a score of 2-1. Thanks to their fighting spirit and Harry Kane’s ability to keep scoring, their team became somewhat difficult to go against for Slovakia.

The final team members that participated this year are Jordan Pickford (Everton), Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), and Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal) as their goalkeepers.

For their defenders, we have Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), John Stones (Manchester City), Lewis Dunk (Brighton), and Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace).

We have Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), and Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace) playing midfield.

We also have Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Ivan Toney (Brentford), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), and Phil Foden (Manchester City) playing forward.

Apart from the following teams, other teams defied expectations and gave their all as contenders. Teams like Portugal, which was led by Cristiano Ronaldo, won against Turkey and showcased really good play. The audience also had a blast watching Austria win against France with a score of 3-2.

People are questioning that Euro 2024 could be the end of an era for some veteran players like Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, who played for Belgium. As well as Giorgio Chiellini and Jorghino, who played for Italy. Another question is being raised about how Euro 2024 could be the tournament of transition because established players are now being challenged by a new generation of players who are as good as them.

The Quarterfinals

The quarterfinals are drawing near, which means Germany’s energetic young team will be tested against the organized defense team of Switzerland. The midfielders of Spain will also go up against Austria, and Portugal will be going against England. Then, in the final two quarterfinal matches, we have Romania, the Netherlands, Austria, and Turkey that will be playing. This match will determine if these teams will continue to live their dream or go home.

In conclusion, what’s happening in Euro 2024 will be exciting and nerve-wracking. You may also want to check out Genting Casino for some insights about Euro 2024.
